Membership in the WSP

The more folks join the World Socialist Party the more we will be able to get our ideas across. The more experiences we will be able to draw on and greater will be the new ideas for building the movement for socialism.

The World Socialist Party is an organization of equals. There is no leader and there are no followers. So, if you are going to join we want you to be sure that you agree fully with our Declaration of Principles.

The National Administrative Committee (NAC) will review your Application. One or two members will contact you and discuss the WSP’s ideas and your understanding of them.

As it becomes obvious that you should be a member, the NAC will set up a formal interview, normally via conference call, following which it will vote on the merits of the Application.

The Membership Application is different from our Object and Declaration of Principles (D of P), which establish and explain our goals. The Object and D of P together define our fundamental purpose and anyone desiring to join the WSP or acompanion party must agree with them.

The 8 questions asked in the Membership Application are a practical extension of our Principles. They are designed to test the consistency of your understanding of Socialism. Respond giving your own opinion in 2 or 3 paragraphs.
